Sam
Navab studied management
in England and United States and has a B.S degree from
university of Wisconsin, Stout. Sam left Iran for Cambridge
and later Bourenmouth, England in 1974 to study political
science. A year later he left England for India to acquaint
himself with political thought in the Indian subcontinent
and studied in New Delhi for a brief time, but decided
that his destiny laid in other pursuits. He arrived
in the U.S in 1977 and has lived in Minnesota ever since.
In fact neither involvement in business nor (for that
matter) oriental rugs has had deep roots in the Navab
clan. Sam Navab's initiation in to the rug business
was purely accidental; best referred to as "kismet"
in the orient, and not an inherited family trait. Sam
began his rug career in 1984 as the manager of Taher Oriental Rugs at International Market Square in Minneapolis but later decided to start his own business with his brother Farzan in 1988.
